After thrashing the visitors’ Windies in the opening Test of the two-match Test series, the hosts and the no.1 Test ranked side India is now focusing for an easy series victory by comfortably winning the second Test at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (Hyderabad), starting on Friday (October 12).

In the first Test at Rajkot, India dominated the visitors in each and every department and the visitors totally surrendered in front of the hosts. While India scored 649/9 decl. in the first innings with the help of three centuries and two more half-centuries, Windies were bundled out for just 181 and 196 runs (following on) in their back-to-back innings. India recorded their largest Test victory (by an innings) as they won by an innings and 272 runs.

Most of the Indian players performed well in that Rajkot Test, including the young debutant Prithvi Shaw. India’s only disappointed part in that Test match was KL Rahul’s duck, who is recently struggling with his batting form.

On Thursday, India named their 12-man shortlist team for the second Test and it’s looked like almost the similar squad of the Rajkot Test. Apart from the first Test’s playing XI squad, only the pacer Shardul Thakur has been added in the 12-man shortlist. It clearly means that the no.1 Test ranked side is focusing their dominance rather than any further experiment. Before their crucial four-match Test series on the Australian soil, it will be India’s last Test and the Indian camp doesn’t want to hurt at any stage of their confidence.

On the other hand, while the pacer Kemar Roach is ready to make his Test return, the skipper Jason Holder is trying hard to be available in this Test match. Roach missed the Rajkot Test due to returning to his home after his grandmother’s demise, while the skipper Holder had an ankle sprain that forced him to miss the opening international game of this tour.

After their hugely disappointing performances in the Rajkot Test, the Windies’ camp is presently focusing to grow up and move from that situation and also to produce a good game that will inspire the whole team.
