Yuzvendra Chahal once again showcased his match-winning brilliance, picking up his second hat-trick in Indian Premier League (IPL) history during Punjab Kings’ clash against Chennai Super Kings in Match 49 of IPL 2025. The veteran wrist-spinner spun a web in his third over, triggering a dramatic CSK collapse in the death overs at Chepauk.

Brought on in the 19th over by skipper Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal was immediately under pressure as MS Dhoni launched him for a six off his first legal delivery. But the experienced campaigner responded in style. Dhoni attempted another big shot but found the fielder at long-off, falling to Chahal’s clever variation. The crowd fell silent as Dhoni walked back, and Chahal was only getting started.

Next in was Deepak Hooda, who managed just two runs before slicing a delivery straight to point. On the very next ball, Anshul Kamboj had no answer to a classic Yuzvendra Chahal googly and saw his stumps uprooted. The hat-trick ball was handed to Noor Ahmed, and nerves got the better of the youngster as he lofted a catch to long-on, where Marco Jansen safely held on to hand Chahal his historic treble.

Yuzvendra Chahal finished with an outstanding 4/32 in three overs, dismantling CSK’s lower order and ensuring they were bowled out for 190 in 19.2 overs. With this effort, Chahal joined elite company—becoming only the third bowler in IPL history to claim multiple hat-tricks, alongside Amit Mishra (3) and Yuvraj Singh (2).
