IPL 2012: Pune Warriors India (PWI) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 3, 2012
Another thrilling low scoring match and this time between the hosts Pune Warriors India (PWI) and the visitors Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2012. In that Maharashtra derby, Mumbai decided to bat first and provided a good start of 50-runs opening partnership before their batting collapse.
After dismissals of the openers James Franklin (25 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (34 runs), no other Mumbai batsmen crossed the 20-run mark as the hosts restricted them for 120/9 at the end of 20 overs. Among the hosts’ bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/9) and Ashish Nehra (2/19) picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Pune was just one run short of Mumbai’s total as they finished for 119/6 at the end of 20 overs. Only Mithun Manhas (42*) was the man who crossed the 20-run mark but his brilliant approach just failed to clinch the victory for the hosts.
In the last ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had to score four runs for the victory but only managed to score two runs. Among the Mumbai bowlers, Lasith Malinga (2/18) and Harbhajan Singh (2/25) were the highest wicket-taker with two wickets each.
