Shivam Dube produced a stunning late assault against Lucknow Super Giants as Chennai Super Kings finished strongly in their crucial IPL 2026 clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. The explosive left-hander turned the momentum completely in Chennai’s favour by smashing 23 runs off the final over bowled by young pacer Prince Yadav.

With LSG penalised for a slow over-rate and forced to keep only four fielders outside the circle, the pressure was firmly on Yadav to close out the innings. The over started quietly as Prashant Veer managed just three runs from the first two balls. However, once Dube got strike, the game changed instantly.

Yadav missed his yorker on the third delivery and ended up bowling a low full toss that Dube launched deep into the stands over mid-wicket for a massive six. The next ball disappeared to the boundary again as the CSK batter sliced it over backward point for four.

The pressure mounted further on the fifth delivery when Dube smashed a powerful straight drive back towards the bowler. Yadav managed to get out of the way just in time as the ball raced away for another boundary.

Dube then completed the brutal finish in style, pulling the final delivery over the leg-side boundary for another six. The sequence of 6, 4, 4, 6 off the last four deliveries completely transformed Chennai’s innings and lifted the five-time champions to a competitive total of 187/5.

Despite the expensive final over, Prince Yadav has still been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing IPL 2026 campaign for Lucknow Super Giants. The right-arm pacer remains LSG’s leading wicket-taker this season with 16 wickets from 12 matches.

Yadav had also impressed in the previous game by claiming 3/33, including the prized wicket of Virat Kohli, helping LSG end a six-match losing streak at home. Earlier in the innings, Kartik Sharma played a crucial knock of 71 off 42 balls before Dube’s unbeaten 32 off just 16 deliveries provided the finishing touch.

For Chennai Super Kings, the match carries massive playoff implications. A victory could push CSK into the top four, while Lucknow Super Giants are already out of the playoff race and playing purely for pride.
