David Warner is the most consistent batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League. His stats speak for itself as he has the most number of 50+ scores in the history of the league. Warner is the most prolific overseas batsman in the league.

However, he didn’t look at his absolute best against Chennai Super Kings during the 23rd match of the IPL 2021. He scored a half-century and shared a crucial partnership with Manish Pandey but his runs came at a very slow pace.

He once was batting at 38 and had faced 43 deliveries for these runs. He tried everything to score freely but this was certainly not his day with the bat. He tried to lap a simple delivery by Lungi Ngidi over the wicketkeeper but ended up playing all over it. He was seen grunting after missing this easy shot during his knock.

The Aussie batsman scored 57 runs but consumed 55 balls for it and managed to hit only three fours and two sixes. It was Kane Williamson and Kedar Jadhav who played little cameos towards the death overs and took Sunrisers Hyderabad’s total to 171/3 in 20 overs. Manish Pandey came back in form and scored a vital half-century.

In response, Chennai Super Kings started their chase positively as Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 129 runs for the opening wicket in 13 overs and scored their respective fifties. Rashid Khan was bowling well but struggle to take wickets. However, he gave his team the first breakthrough but it came too late. CSK chased down the total with seven wickets in hand. They leapfrogged Royal Challengers Bangalore once again to go at the top of the points table.
