The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bought a gem in 17-year old Prabhsimran Singh, who has been making the news for all the right reasons in recent times. Cousin of Punjab star Anmolpreet Singh, Prabhsimran has impressed one and all with his big-hitting prowess.

In 2018, Singh played a memorable knock of 298 off just 301 balls against Amritsar in the semi-final of the Punjab U23 Inter-District Cricket Tournament. The batsman, who is yet to make his first-class debut, was also a part of the Indian team that finished runners-up at the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

Unsurprisingly, there was a huge bidding war when the auctioneer called out his name. KXIP eventually won the race, shelling out a whopping ₹4.8 crore to secure his services. And it looks like the Punjab-based outfit is not going to regret the deal. Prabhsimran is not only talented with the bat but has also shown phenomenal skills with his gloves. On Monday, the official Twitter handle of the franchise posted a video of what the fans can expect from their latest recruit.

A delighted Kings XI Punjab posted the video on Twitter, writing, “Which superhero does @prabhsimran01 remind you of?”

In the video, the youngster was seen pulling out a full-length dive to his left side to take an absolute stunner. The batsman could not make proper contact with a short delivery towards the leg-side and ended up edging it behind the stumps. At first, it looked like the batsman will get away with it but Prabhsimran’s stunning effort made sure that the batsman to pay for his mistake.

KXIP  will be desperately hoping for a good outing this season. After some dismal performances in recent seasons, they have already taken some big calls ahead of the upcoming season. They have roped in former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson and ex-India spinner S Sriram while parting ways with mentor Virender Sehwag.

The Punjab based franchise is one of the few teams who are yet to lift the title. Their best performance came in 2014 when they made it to the final before losing to Kolkata Knight Riders. Since then they have failed to make it to the playoffs.
