CSK captain MS Dhoni led his team to victory in a thrilling chase, with Ravindra Jadeja hitting a last-ball six and a four to seal the deal. CSK needed 13 runs in the final over, bowled by Mohit Sharma, and Jadeja delivered spectacularly.

“It (the final) looked like it was very well scripted by God. You know, because it didn’t start on time. It was the only final that went on for three days. Then they scored the kind of runs they scored,” MS Dhoni said during a recent interaction.

He added, “The best thing that would have happened was that we would have gotten the target before the start of the inning, and that’s literally what happened. And then, whenever we needed a boundary somehow, we got a boundary. So, it was more like a script.”

Jadeja’s last-ball heroics were the perfect ending to a memorable final. CSK had a good bowling performance in the first innings, restricting GT to 171/5. In the second innings, CSK got off to a slow start, but Devon Conway (56) and Ambati Rayudu (42) put on a crucial partnership to keep them in the chase.

CSK’s victory in IPL 2023 was a special one, as they came back from a poor season in 2022. Dhoni’s leadership and Jadeja’s all-round performance were key factors in their success
