In 2015, after Pakistan’s heavy defeat to West Indies in the World Cup, Akhtar laid blame on Sethi and the entire PCB management. Adding to the same, he had several clashes with the PCB as a player during a 14-year career.

Shoaib’s role in PCB will be far from just enhancing the board with his name but to work closely with the board members and lend his expert opinion. On Friday, Najam Sethi himself made the announcement on Twitter and Akhtar replied with a thanking note.
