The opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is taking place in Dubai and it has started the biggest cricketing extravaganza in Pakistan. The third season of the league will see one additional team this year, while the final will be played in Karachi on March 25.

Former Pakistan batsman Ramiz Raja has been impressed with this league. PSL has given few talents to Pakistan in form of Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali, who have shown their skills on the biggest level. Also, it has supported the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) financially over the two previous seasons.

Raza feels only PSL is the second best T20 league around the globe, only after the Indian Premier League (IPL), where every player dreamed to play once. IPL will complete its 11 years in 2018 and several star players have been the part of this journey.

“Pakistan Super League has been a success story from all angles. Every year the player profile keeps increasing and improving and money keeps pouring in. Making their debuts in PSL 3 and vying for attention will be Chris Lynn, Colin Ingram and Jofra Archer. In pre-match ratio term Pakistan Super League is second only to Indian Premier League,” wrote Raza in his column for the Times of India.

“As the ride takes us into year three, you will get to see a larger canvas of players, a new team making an appearance and potential greats trying to outdo the known performers.”

The 55-year-old in a chat with Business Recorder justified his choice stating that it was a smart pick on Islamabad United’s part to sign Duminy who is a very good player of spin bowling and can make valuable contributions to the team with the ball and on the field as well.

“I believe that Islamabad United’s pick Duminy is pretty good, as he plays outstandingly well against the spin and is tremendous while running between the wicket. He is also a great fielder, who can bowl off-spin as well,” he added.

After hosting the final of PSL 2 in Lahore, PCB has announced that Karachi will witness the final of PSL 3 apart from two knock-out matches in Lahore.
