The preparations of Indian Premier League have been commenced and every team is doing their algorithm over the retention policy. Earlier this month, the Governing Council revealed the guidelines for player retention police ahead of a big auction, which will take place on 27-28 January in Bengaluru.

With the next season, two old franchise Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will be making their way back into the groove and they received the privilege to choose from their former players. But other IPL teams can’t digest this decision and wants every player to come into the auction pool.

A source quoted to the Telegraph “It’s common sense that a franchise can retain simply those players on its rolls. But neither the Super Kings nor the Rajasthan Royals have a single player with them at this point in time… Why should the two franchises retain on the basis of their 2015 squads? If that had to be done, then every single player ought to have gone into the upcoming full-fledged auction.”

Also, he alleged governing council for being biased and added “Clearly, some people have a vested interest, which is why a blatantly unfair policy has been forced into place. I’d say it’s even ridiculous at one level.”

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals is in no mood to retain their any player from the previous season. Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and James Faulkner were their star player from that addition, but they are not in any mood to spend big pennies of them and are planning to buy them through Right to match card.

The last date of submitting names of retained players is January 4.
