India is currently locking horns with South Africa in the first Test match of a three-match Test series back in their home. They have now reached a commanding position against the Proteas with the help of an extraordinary opening stand between Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma of 317 runs.
This is the first time in the last 13 years and third time in the history that the Indian openers have done a partnership of more than 300 runs. Amidst all the speculations, Indian openers have given a stern reply to their critics and Indian fans are pretty happy with their play. Although Rohit missed an opportunity of scoring his first double Test century, youngster Mayank Agarwal remained successful in registering his first double hundred in his international career.

The first day went completely in favor of Indian but on the 2nd day of the match, the bowlers of visitors gave a tough fight to the hosts and bagged seven wickets, but an incident took place that amused every cricketer on the field and fans present at the venue. In the 52nd over, when Keshav Maharaj gave four byes. After the ball reached the boundary, the fielder (Vernon Philander) present at the boundary rope was not able to find the cherry that crossed the boundary.

The ball got stuck in between the boundary rope advertisements but Philander was searching the ball under the covers that were kept beside the ropes as a precautionary measure to protect the 22 yards from sudden rain. After a couple of minutes, the South African opener, Aiden Markram came to help his teammate as he knew where the ball was and picked it up as the cameraman was showing the same.

Team India declared their innings at 502/7. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj was the top wicket-taker with three wickets. For hosts, Mayank Agarwal was the top-scorer with 215 runs off 371 deliveries. It would be a tough task for Proteas going ahead in this game as they are already reeling at 39/3 at the end of Day 2.
