Rajasthan Royals becomes the first team to begin the preparation for IPL 2018

Inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Rajasthan Royals is the first team to begin the preparation for the IPL 2018. Making a comeback from the two-year ban, Rajasthan Royals have organised a three-day camp at the Cricket Club of India (CCI)’s Brabourne stadium (Mumbai), which has started from Tuesday.

In these three days programme, Rajasthan Royals will observe the players’ skills including the fitness through the practice matches. The players also undergo the fitness drills.

On the day one, youth cricketers like Aryaman Birla, Mahipal Lomror, Sudhesan Midhun, Jatin Saxena etc. attended the role specification camp. Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who had featured in the recently ended Test and ODI bilateral series on the South African soil, also visited the camp and provided an interactive session with the players on that day.

Apart from this camp, the first season’s IPL champions will be conducting three more camps before the beginning of the IPL’s eleventh edition.

Rajeev Khanna, the vice-president of Rajasthan Royals, told to IANS, ”We promise to deliver great value and bring back the best excitement which the city missed in the last four years. This has been a lucky ground for us and hence we are hoping to have the best season of IPL in 2018. Presently we are eagerly awaiting when the Rajasthan Cricket Association can hand over the stadium to us so that we can start with camps here. BCCI team has been visiting here to monitor the progress being made in the stadium.”

Along with the Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals had faced a two-year suspension over a corruption and match-fixing scandal in 2015. Due to that suspension, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings had not participated in the IPL 2016 and 2017 editions. Now, both the teams are ready to make comeback in this tournament.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals signed Amol Muzumdar and Sairaj Bahutule for the role of coaches.

It is expected that Amol Muzumdar will take the responsibility of team’s batting while Sairaj Bahutule will look at the bowling department of the team.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals had bagged Shane Warne as a mentor of the team.
